MEDIA ADVISORY February 27, 2006 COMMISSION RECEIVES AFFIDAVIT IN SUPPORT OF AN APPLICATION FOR FUNDING BY DAVID ASPER David Asper applied for standing and funding before the Commission on February 17, 2006. Commissioner Edward MacCallum ruled on the application on February 22, 2006, granting standing at the inquiry except during any discrete phase dealing with systemic issues. On the matter of funding, the Commissioner found that “the applicant has not filed material in support of funding for counsel beyond asking for it,” and therefore did not make an order at that time. The Commissioner invited Mr. Asper to file an affidavit in support of the application for funding so that he could consider the matter further. The Commission has now received that affidavit, a copy of which may be viewed on the Commission web site at www.milgaardinquiry.ca/rulings.shtml.
