QUEEN’S BENCH JUDGMENT RECEIVED 

On July 4th, 2006, the Commission received a Notice of Motion from the Attorney General of Canada, advising that an application would be made to the Saskatchewan Court of Queen’s Bench for;

  1. an order to quash Commissioner Edward MacCallum’s ruling of June 1, 2006, regarding the constitutional limitations on the questioning of federal witnesses; and,
  2. an order prohibiting the Commissioner from inquiring into the reasons for actions taken by officials of the federal Department of Justice, including advice provided or received by those officials.

On August 9th, 2006, submissions were made before Chief Justice Laing of the Court of Queen’s Bench by:

            Graeme Mitchell, Q.C. for the Saskatchewan Department of Justice
