Title: The Child and Family Services Amendment Regulations, 2017

Minister: Minister of Social Services

Summary: On April 1, 2017, these regulations will amend RRS C-7.2 Reg 1 to:

  • Aboriginal child welfare agreements must include obligations to protect the privacy of individuals while the agreement is in effect, on agency dissolution, and in the event the agreement with the Ministry is terminated;
  • obligations to notify the Ministry in the event of a privacy breach;
  • permit Ministry access to agency documents should their agreement be terminated;
  • the circumstances in which agreements can be terminated, notice requirements, and how notice of termination will occur.
  • the circumstances in which, and entities with which, information can be disclosed without consent of the individual to whom that information pertains;
  • “common or integrated service” and “information sharing agreement” are defined;
  • the elements that must be contained in an information sharing agreement and the sharing of information with a party to such an agreement; and
  • RCMP participating at common/integrated service tables requires a single agreement rather than several arrangements for the same type of service across the province.
