Title: The Justices of the Peace Amendment Regulations, 2014/Règlement de 2014 modifiant le Règlement de 1989 sur les juges de paix

Minister: Minister of Justice and Attorney General

Summary: On filing date, these regulations will amend RRS J-5.1 Reg 1 to provide that:

  • senior justices of the peace (JPs) working full time receive 30 vacation days per fiscal year;
  • senior JPs working full time receive 12 public service statutory holidays;
  • senior JPs receive sick leave calculated at a rate of one and one quarter days for each full month of service;
  • senior JPs and JPs who are not court officials are reimbursed for expenses incurred while working away from their designated place of work (in accordance with rate paid to public service employees for travel away from home);
  • senior JPs shall participate in:
    • the Government of Saskatchewan Group Life Insurance Plan;
    • the Government of Saskatchewan Disability Income Plan; and
    • the Public Employees Dental Plan;
  • senior JPS are enrolled into a health care plan;
  • the supervising JP be paid a salary in an amount that is $5,000 per year more than the annual salary paid to a senior JP; and
  • current provisions regarding fees payable to JPs are repealed.
