Title: The Seal Belt Exemption Regulations, 2014

Minister: Minister Responsible for Saskatchewan Government Insurance

Summary: (1) Subject to subsection (2), these regulations come into force on the day on which section 24 of The Traffic Safety Amendment Act, 2014 comes into force.

(2) If section 24 of The Traffic Safety Amendment Act, 2014 comes into force before the day on which these regulations are filed with the Registrar of Regulations, these regulations come into force on the day on which they are filed with the Registrar of Regulations.

These regulations will amend RRS T-18.1 Reg 14 to:

  • update old statutory references;
  • exempt Class PB vehicle drivers that are transporting passengers for hire from the requirement to ensure that passengers under 16 years of age are properly restrained; and
  • exempt those vehicles manufactured before 1993, without a lap-shoulder seat-belt assembly, from the requirement to require passengers to occupy a booster seat.
