OC 335/2009 - The Food Safety Regulations (Minister of Health)

Title: The Food Safety Regulations

Minister: Minister of Health

Summary: On filing date, these regulations (RRS P-37.1 Reg 12) will:

(a) replace The Public Eating Establishment Regulations, The Bakeshop Regulations, 1986 and the food safety provisions in The Sanitation Regulations;

(b) continue to require public eating establishments to have licenses issued by the regional health authority;

(c) allow regional health authorities or the ministry to disclose to the public, information related to inspection reports and/or enforcement information associated with restaurant type establishments;

(d) strengthen food safety requirements and ensure more consistent application of these requirements across different types of facilities, such as restaurants, butcher shops and bakeshops; and

(e) reflect more up-to-date standards that are being adopted in other provinces.
