Fall 2003 Update to Saskatchewan Education Indicators 2002 Report
The Saskatchewan Education Indicators Program presents data and information that describe a number of aspects of the education system. This report includes three types of indicators:
Context indicators describe the social, economic and demographic influences on the education system.
Process indicators provide information about how things are done within the education system, including descriptions of policies, resources and activities.
Outcome indicators provide information about results. |

Provincial Learning Assessment in Language Arts - 1994
The focus of the 1994 Provincial Learning Assessment in Language Arts (Reading and Writing) was student achievement in reading and writing - two of the dimensions of language arts. Student achievement in other dimensions of language arts such as listening, speaking, visual literacy and media literacy, and the effectiveness of English language arts curricula were not assessed. |

Provincial Learning Assessment in Language Arts - 1996
The 1996 Provincial Learning Assessment in Language Arts document targeted literacy skills in a general sense. That is, students’ reading skills were assessed with a variety of types of reading passages, not limited to literary reading. |

Provincial Learning Assessment in Mathematics - 1995
As part of the Saskatchewan Education Indicators Program, the 1995 Provincial Mathematics Assessment gathered information about numeracy skills, knowledge and values from approximately 7600 students in 410 classrooms. A comprehensive set of both pencil and paper tests, and practical or performance tests were administered and scored to create an accurate snapshot of student achievement.
All student achievement data was interpreted according to expectations about what students would be able to do. In addition, standards were set as targets for future achievement. |

Provincial Learning Assessment in Mathematics - 1997
In May 1997, Grades 5, 8, and 11 Saskatchewan students completed questionnaires and tests demonstrating their attitudes, practices, mathematics knowledge and problem-solving skills. This report summarizes these findings. It also examines factors related to students’ opportunities to learn mathematics and their achievements. |

Saskatchewan Education Indicators Report - 1994
This first Saskatchewan Education Indicators Report provides the people of Saskatchewan with a detailed picture of the strengths, weaknesses, challenges, and performance of the Kindergarten to Grade 12 education system in light of the changes that have taken place during the last decade.
The report applies three general types of indicators - contextual, process, and outcome - to provide a picture of how well the province's education system is doing in achieving the new Goals of Education outlined in Directions. It provides information about the influences major social, economic and demographic changes have had on the education system and the challenges they pose. The report also provides data and information pertaining to the overall education system; the achievement of the "student goals" of basic, social, and personal skills development; and the achievement of the "system goals" of relevance, accessibility, equity, and accountability. |

Saskatchewan Education Indicators Report - 1995
The 1994 Education Indicators Report stated that future work on the Education Indicators Program would focus on collecting additional information on how well Saskatchewan’s Kindergarten to Grade 12 education system is doing and on improving programs in several critical areas. Progress has been made in these areas. |

Saskatchewan Education Indicators Report - 1996
Curriculum developments are nearly complete for all Required Areas of Study in Kindergarten to Grade 12 and for many optional course areas. All new curricula emphasize resource-based learning, Indian and Métis content and perspectives, gender equity, and integration of students with special needs. Some of these new curricula have been fully implemented; others are being piloted.
New curricula being implemented in the 1995-96 school year include Social Studies 1-5, Physical Education 6-9, Career Guidance 6-9, Mathematics 10 and 20, and Arts Education 30. Curricula currently being developed or piloted include English Language Arts 6-9 and 10-12, Life Transitions 20 and 30, and the Canadian Studies courses (History, Native Studies, Social Studies) at the 30 level. |

Saskatchewan Education Indicators Report - 1997
The purpose of the Indicators Report is twofold – to account to Saskatchewan people the way the education system is meeting public expectations, and to provide reliable information for educators, planners and administrators as they make continual improvements to the system. |

The Saskatchewan Education Indicators Program provides a regular accounting to parents, educators, interest groups and the general public on the way the education system is meeting the Goals of Education for Saskatchewan. It also provides reliable information to educators, planners and administrators so they can improve the system and better serve the needs of students and the expectations of the community. |

Saskatchewan Education Indicators Report - 1999
In this report, data from the Provincial Learning Assessment and Curriculum Evaluation Programs, Saskatchewan Education, Statistics Canada studies, and national and international assessments and surveys have been organized into four sections:
- The Saskatchewan Context – describes demographic, social and economic trends that influence the education system as a whole and the lives of families and children;
- Saskatchewan’s Education System – describes the province’s education system;
- Student Goals – provides indicators related to the development of students’ social and personal skills as well as basic skills; and,
- System Goals – provides indicators related to the overall performance of the education system. |
